More spring clothes for R & J…how exciting!

March 2, 2009 by sewitseams2me

My goal is to make all of J’s spring/summer clothes and fill in R’s closet the best I can to add to what she already has. So far I’m off to a good start, at least I think so! Here are some of the new things I have made for them

Clothes for R, love the wrap tops sooo easy to make and cute on her!

Clothes for J. Not to sure I’m in love with the shorts, but what can I say. Maybe I will try again with a different patter.

J’s new playmat!

February 22, 2009 by sewitseams2me

I found this fabric at Wal-Mart and J went nuts! He wanted it so bad and I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Then I saw a car play mat on one of my sewing groups and I was like “Perfect!” I just used the Car’s road fabric a heavier layer in the middle to give it some structure, and then black fabric for the backing. He plays with it all the time now and it’s the perfect size for him to play with his cars on while being a good travel size.

J’s new shirt for spring/summer

February 22, 2009 by sewitseams2me

My goal this year is to make J’s ALL of J’s spring and summer clothes. I think I’m off to a pretty good start though I do have a long way to go.

I just LOVE this zoo print, I had to have it the second I found it at Joann’s.

Hubby thinks the Dino shirt is the best one yet.

R’s new Feliz, how I love this dress!

February 22, 2009 by sewitseams2me

I was so scared to make the Feliz dress, it looks harder than it really is (honest!) I’m so glad I bit the bullet though and made her one. Of course the second I got it done she says “Mom I REALLY want to wear this to school for our party” I was worried about sending her to school in a dress as she still isn’t modest and I’m sure would be showing her panties off to everyone *rolls eyes* so I made her some matching pants and a really cute matching headband! Her bus driver and teacher went nuts over it….who would have thought a young mother of two would sew for her kids? It’s just not the “norm” these days. LOL

Sick baby & sewing just don’t mix!

February 22, 2009 by sewitseams2me

I was so excited about sewing this month. Got off to a GREAT start and then BAM J came down with croup. :( Sewing with a sick baby is just not a good mix. Heck I haven’t gotten much sleep as it is so sewing just wasn’t on the top of my list. Now that he is feeling better I’m getting back on track though!

Summer fun in January???

January 18, 2009 by sewitseams2me

Yes that’s what I was asked the other day by a friend when I told her my husband was outside blowing bubbles in -5 degree weather. :P What happens to bubbles in that kind of weather you ask, well here let me show you!

THEY FREEZE! Now how cool is that? My kids think it is so neat that the bubbles Daddy blew for the the other night are STILL sitting there tonight. :) I won’t make you wait  any longer because I know your just waiting to see what frozen bubbles look like…. (please excuse the fact that the chair the bubbles are on is dirty, they will be washed again in the spring ;) )

And here is what happens when you pop those frozen bubbles. They just crumble like fine paper!

So the next time you  have REALLY cold weather, but want to enjoy some warm summer fun. Go out and blow some bubbles. It’s sure to put a smile on your face. ;)

P.S~ A small note to help you get your frozen bubbles. It took my husband a few try to get it right. You have to get just the right amount of water and soap mixture for it to work. If there is to much water in them then they pop to fast for them to freeze. If you put to much soap in them then you won’t even be able to form a bubble. Go play around with it and have fun!

Oh the joys!

January 17, 2009 by sewitseams2me

Oh the joys of using Euro patterns, let me tell you! First of all they fit my kids 100% better than any of the big 3 patterns you can buy here in the stores. Second off the styles are just so wonderful, and very in style. Like something you would buy pre-made at the store! :) I’m new to using Euro patterns so I’m just now starting to get the full feeling of what all is involved with sewing them. You have to trace them off of a sheet that looks like a 5 year old drew on, if your focused enough this isn’t to hard as you just make sure you are following the right line. But then comes the fun part, YOU have to add in your own seam allowance. I find this to be the most time consuming part, and the one that gets me the most frustrated. It really makes me want to rip up the pattern and never look back. The things we do to get something we want. :P

Going slow BUT…

January 16, 2009 by sewitseams2me

still getting SOME sewing things done today. Even though R was out of school today and I didn’t get the sewing done that I really wanted to get done I was still able to get a few Otto patterns traced out and ready to go! :p At least today wasn’t a total no go on the sewing front.
